How the Fire Corps can help...
Training Administration Maintenance
The AAEC plans to help find the wherewithall to establish a region wide training center for out firefighters, both volunteer and paid. Perfectly, we would like to add a mobile burn trailer to accomplish this goal; but unfortunately we need $86,000 to get started in an effective manner. Overall budgeted plan calls for nearly $240,000. We can help departments with grant seeking, and assistance in everything from web-pages to personnel records. We need volunteers with experience in these areas. We can also assist in health evaluations by working with the volunteers of the Coryell Medical Reserve Team. Many of our departments use equipment that is passed around from agency to agency, and is held together by baling wire and duct tape (figuratively speaking). Despite the valiant efforts of our firefighters, we can help by finding professionals in those fields to assist. Volunteer now!!

The overriding need for the AAEC is volunteers, direction, and funding. If you would like to be in the fire service, but are either physically or otherwise unable to do so, this may be the way to do it. You can work to help your local department, or other ones throughout the county. If you are a department in Coryell County, and have a need, e-mail us for information on how we can help you. If you are an individual or a company that would like to contribute to the community in a definable way, again, let us know!

FY 2005 AFG A WINNER!!!

The AAEC developed a grant proposal to supply smoke detectors to local fire departments!!! due to this effort, we can get well over 4000 smoke detectors into the hands of families that need them. Distribution efforts will begin probably in February, accompanied by a media campaign.

FY 2005 Grant recognition!!!

The AAEC was able to discuss the status and importance of fire protection in Coryell County with Congressman John Carter and his staff. As a result of this he was able to send a letter of support for both the Gatesville VFD AFG grant and the AAEC SAFER grant to Homeland Security. This GREATLY increase the odds that our grants will be awarded in the first 2-3 rounds. The letters were awarded due to the truely professional jobs done in writing both grants, and the ability of that grant writing to reflect the true need by Coryell County Firefighters. This was only possible due to the courage and committment of each individual firefighter in Coryell County. The example of the firefighters is what motivates the members of the AAEC to help, and that is what the Fire Corps is all about...citizens helping the professionals. In Coryell County's case, we are all volunteers. But you are the ones that put your life on hold and on the line to protect the rest of us. Hats off to Coryell County firefighters and to the job they do every day and night!!!

VOLUNTEER!!!!

All volunteer fire departments in Coryell County need volunteer fire fighters. We encourage all persons that are reading this page, to consider volunteering in those departments or letting others know that there is a need. If you do not have the physical capability to volunteer, or just can't contribute the time; volunteer with the Arnett Auxiliary Engine Company. By doing this you can make a real difference to your local department, and enjoy the association with the professionals of the fire service.
