CORYELL COUNTY CERT

CERT is Community Emergency Response Team; a training and organization system that enables neighbors to help neighbors. In a nutshell, CERT is derived from the experiences of the city of Los Angeles, CA and their organization of citizen resources to assit is times of disaster. The program was so successful, that the Federal Emergency Management Agency instituted the program nationwide. The Department of Homeland Defense is ultimately responsible for the program now, given the events of 911.

Day 1: Introduction & Fire suppression Day 2 Disaster Medical operations Day 3 Disaster Medical Operations Day 4 Search and Rescue & Team Operations Day 5 Terrorism & Team Operations: Then the practical exercise	Backpack helmet & Goggles leather and latex gloves flashlight reflective vest 10 yards of rope or parachute cord first aid kit traingular bandage 5X9 pad Sharpie note Pad Duct tape & Masking tape Splint material Personal items ( toiletries, medication, spare glasses) Cell phone and/or FRS radio	Team materials will/can include: Cribbing poles for litters tarps rope string sledgehammer axe pinch bar splint material bandage material FRS Radio's GPS

The Coryell CERT also has a trailer for use by the training team and for use in emergency. It basically provides a mobile venue to transport all the material to construct a class according to federal standards. It also maintains equipment for the county-wide CERT team to use; to include cribbing, shelter, and pioneer tools.
